A plains game hunting day at Induna Safaris begins at sunrise, with the African bush coming to life around you. Start the morning with a steaming cup of coffee and a light breakfast while our team prepares the hunting vehicle and makes sure everything needed for the day ahead is ready.
Once everyone is prepared, you will head out with your professional hunter into our beautiful Eastern Cape hunting area in search of the species you have chosen to pursue that day.

Our plains game safaris are primarily conducted using traditional walk-and-stalk hunting methods. Once your professional hunter has identified an area where suitable animals are likely to be found, you will leave the vehicle and continue the hunt on foot.
This gives you the opportunity to truly experience the African bush — following tracks, reading the wind, glassing distant hillsides and carefully working your way through the terrain in search of the right animal.
Our hunting areas offer a remarkable variety of landscapes typical of the Eastern Cape. During a single hunt you may move through open grasslands, thick bushveld, valleys, rocky hillsides and elevated ridges, each presenting its own challenges and opportunities.
The constantly changing terrain makes every stalk different and allows hunters to experience far more than simply pursuing an animal. Along the way, you are surrounded by spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife and the unique sights and sounds of the African bush.
Whether you are coming to Africa for your very first hunt or you are an experienced international hunter, your safari will be adapted to your individual experience, ability and preferred hunting style.
For first-time hunters, our professional hunters are there to guide you throughout the process — from identifying animals and planning the stalk to setting up for the shot and helping you feel confident and comfortable in the field.
Experienced hunters are given the freedom to become fully involved in the hunt, with the professional hunter working alongside them to create the type of experience they enjoy.
There is no need to rush.
Every hunt is conducted at the hunter’s own pace. Our professional hunters will take the time needed to search for a mature, good-quality trophy and will never pressure you into taking a shot you are not comfortable with.
When the right animal is found and both you and your professional hunter are satisfied, you will move into position and prepare for the shot. Shooting sticks are available whenever required, and your professional hunter will help you find the most comfortable and ethical shooting position possible.
Then the moment is yours.
One of the great pleasures of hunting at Induna Safaris is the amount of wildlife you may encounter during the day.
While moving through the property, it is common to see numerous species of plains game as well as birds and other wildlife. Your professional hunter will point out interesting animals, plants, tracks and features of the landscape along the way, making the experience enjoyable even during the quieter moments of the hunt.
With a wide variety of game and beautiful Eastern Cape scenery surrounding you, there is always something to see. A cooler box accompanies every hunt and is stocked with cold water, soft drinks and snacks, ensuring that you remain refreshed throughout the day.
Depending on the hunt, the weather and where you are on the property, you may return to the lodge for lunch or enjoy something in the veld before continuing the afternoon hunt.
Once your trophy has been taken, there is time to appreciate the moment and capture photographs that will become part of the memories of your African safari.
The animal is then transported to our dedicated caping, slaughtering and cold-room facilities, where our experienced skinners carefully prepare the cape and trophy for your chosen taxidermist.
Great care is taken during this process because we understand that your trophy will eventually become a lasting reminder of your time in Africa.
Nothing from the hunt is unnecessarily wasted. The venison is carefully processed and utilised, and whenever possible we encourage our hunters to experience some of the game meat from animals taken during their safari.
